A toxic alcohol outbreak in Madhya Pradesh has killed 20 people and left more than 70 patients with vision problems, prompting treatment at AIIMS.

In a recent toxic alcohol incident in Madhya Pradesh, authorities report that 20 individuals have died after consuming contaminated liquor.

Medical investigations attribute the deaths and health complications to methanol poisoning, a dangerous by‑product of illicit distillation.

More than 70 patients have reported visual disturbances, with some experiencing temporary blindness, prompting urgent eye‑care interventions.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has been engaged to provide specialist treatment, and patients are currently receiving eye examinations and therapy.

Police and health officials are conducting a probe into the source of the contaminated alcohol and are urging the public to avoid unlicensed beverages.
