Madhya Pradesh recorded a historic surge in tourism during the fiscal year 2025, with the state receiving more than 21 crore visitors, according to data released by the state tourism department. The figure marks a new high for the region, surpassing previous records and underscoring the growing appeal of its cultural and natural attractions.
Ujjain topped the list of intra‑state destinations, attracting the largest share of domestic travelers. The city's religious significance, especially the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, combined with improved infrastructure and promotional campaigns, contributed to its leading position.
The report also highlighted an uptick in foreign tourists, indicating that international interest in Madhya Pradesh’s heritage sites and wildlife reserves is on the rise. Officials noted that the increase reflects successful outreach efforts and the state's enhanced connectivity.
