A new weather system developing over the Bay of Bengal is expected to bring heavy rain to several districts of Madhya Pradesh from September 24.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that the monsoon season, which is gradually withdrawing, will make a brief return to Madhya Pradesh. Starting 24 September, the state is likely to experience a spell of heavy showers across multiple districts.
Meteorologists point to a low‑pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal on 23 September. As the system moves northwestward, it is expected to draw moisture inland, enhancing rainfall over central India, including Madhya Pradesh.
IMD has issued a weather advisory for the region, urging local authorities to monitor water levels in rivers and streams and to keep disaster‑response teams on standby. Residents in the affected districts have been advised to stay alert, avoid low‑lying areas, and secure property against possible waterlogging.
The anticipated rains come after a relatively dry spell following the main monsoon retreat, offering a brief respite to agriculture but also raising concerns about flash floods in vulnerable zones.
