Sports Minister Vishwas Sarang announced a ₹36,441 crore Khelo India programme for 2026‑2031, with 52 centres in Madhya Pradesh to be strengthened and a new sports hub planned in Bhopal.
Sports Minister Vishwas Sarang unveiled the next phase of the Khelo India programme, slated to run from 2026 to 2031 with a total allocation of ₹36,441 crore for Madhya Pradesh. The funding aims to expand the state's sports infrastructure and provide broader opportunities for athletes.
Under the plan, fifty‑two Khelo India Centres across Madhya Pradesh will receive upgrades to meet national standards. These centres will serve as training hubs for a wide range of sports, enabling more athletes to access quality coaching and facilities.
A dedicated sports hub is also earmarked for Bhopal, which will house advanced training amenities and serve as a focal point for state‑level competitions. Additionally, the scheme will deploy artificial intelligence tools at the school level to identify and nurture sporting talent early.
The minister emphasized that the enhanced budget will allow ten times more athletes to benefit compared to earlier phases, reflecting the government's commitment to grassroots sports development in the region.
