The state will mark Janmashtami with large‑scale decorations across more than 7,500 temples and cultural programmes at 111 venues in 55 districts, culminating in a Bhumipujan ceremony by the Chief Minister.
Madhya Pradesh is set to observe Janmashtami this year with an expansive Shri Krishna Festival that will see more than 7,500 temples across the state adorned with thematic decorations. The initiative, announced by the state government, aims to highlight the cultural heritage associated with Lord Krishna and to encourage community participation during the auspicious occasion.
Cultural events have been scheduled at 111 locations spanning 55 districts, featuring devotional music, dance performances, and traditional art displays. Organisers have coordinated with local temple committees to ensure uniformity in décor, using vibrant rangoli, lighting, and symbolic motifs that reflect Krishna’s life stories.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will officiate a Bhumipujan ceremony, marking the inauguration of the "Parshuram‑Shri Krishna Lok" project. The ceremony is expected to draw large crowds, reinforcing the government's emphasis on preserving religious traditions while promoting tourism in the region.
State officials anticipate that the festival will boost local economies, especially in rural areas where temple tourism forms a significant source of income. Security and crowd‑management measures are being put in place to ensure a safe and orderly celebration for devotees and visitors alike.
