The state government has ordered a halt on routine police leaves between 11 and 25 October, citing the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations. Senior officers need DG‑P approval for leave, while SP‑IGs may grant limited days in emergencies.
Bhopal, Oct 5 — The Madhya Pradesh government has issued an order that bars police personnel from taking regular leave between 11 and 25 October. The directive comes as the state prepares for the Durga Puja and Dashahara festivals, which are expected to draw large crowds and heightened security requirements.
Under the order, only senior officers may approve leave for sub‑inspectors and constables in genuine emergencies, and such approvals must be limited in duration. For officers of the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and above, any leave request must first be cleared by the Director General of Police (DGP).
The State Police Headquarters clarified that the measure is temporary and will be lifted once the festival period concludes. It aims to ensure adequate manpower for crowd control, traffic management, and rapid response to any incidents that may arise during the celebrations.
Police officials have urged the public to cooperate and understand the necessity of the restriction, emphasizing that safety and order will be the top priority throughout the festive season.
