Police in Betul district detained several Congress workers shortly before Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav's scheduled visit, sparking political tension.

Police in Betul district detained several Congress party workers early on the day Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav was set to arrive. The operation was carried out just hours before the chief minister's scheduled visit.

District police officials said the workers were taken from their homes and transferred to the Kotwali police station for questioning. The exact number of detainees has not been disclosed.

The action has heightened political tension in the district, with local Congress leaders alleging it is meant to intimidate the party ahead of the chief minister's outreach. Police, however, maintain the arrests are linked to law‑and‑order concerns.

The chief minister's office has not commented on the police action, and the visit is expected to proceed as planned.
