A spokesperson for the state police said the arrests were part of a broader crackdown on matrimonial frauds that have been on the rise. "We are committed to protecting citizens from such deceptive practices," the officer added.
The arrested individuals are now under investigation, and the police have urged anyone who may have been approached by similar agencies to report the incident immediately.
