Madhya Pradesh's Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya travelled to Chitrakoot on Saturday as the district continued to grapple with the aftermath of severe flooding. The minister arrived at a community kitchen, locally known as the Dindayal kitchen, set up to provide meals to flood‑displaced families.
During the visit, Vijayvargiya sampled a serving of poori and vegetable curry prepared for the beneficiaries. He used the tasting as a practical check on the hygiene and nutritional standards of the food being distributed.
The minister said the government is closely monitoring relief operations and urged local authorities to ensure that all relief kitchens maintain consistent quality and safety measures. Officials confirmed that the kitchen will continue to serve meals while additional support is mobilised for the affected population.
The inspection comes amid ongoing efforts by the state administration to restore normalcy in Chitrakoot, where thousands remain in temporary shelters and basic services are being restored.
