From November, every government hospital in Madhya Pradesh will shift to a fully digital system for OPD registration, consultations, pharmacy and billing, delivering prescriptions to patients' mobiles.
The state health department has announced that, starting in November, all government‑run hospitals across Madhya Pradesh will operate without paper. Every outpatient registration, diagnostic test order, doctor’s consultation note and pharmacy dispense will be recorded electronically.
Patients will receive their prescription slips and test reports directly on their mobile phones, eliminating the need for printed documents. Billing will also be processed through a digital platform, allowing for instant payment verification and receipt generation.
Health officials say the paperless transition is intended to streamline patient flow, reduce administrative delays and create a permanent electronic health record for each citizen. Staff across the hospitals are undergoing training to use the new software, and the system will be integrated with existing state health databases.
The rollout is part of a broader effort to modernise public healthcare services and improve data accuracy, with the expectation that digital records will aid in better disease monitoring and resource allocation.
