The state government has introduced the Aawaas Sahayata Scheme to provide affordable housing loans to tribal students, aiming to improve their access to education.
The Government of Madhya Pradesh has rolled out the Aawaas Sahayata Scheme, a new initiative designed to help tribal students secure housing near their educational institutions.
Under the scheme, eligible students can obtain housing loans up to ₹5 lakh with a subsidised interest rate of 4% per annum, and repayment terms of up to 15 years. The scheme also offers a one‑time down‑payment assistance of up to ₹50,000.
Applications can be filed through the state’s online portal or at designated district offices. The first batch of loans is expected to be disbursed by the end of the fiscal year, with a target of supporting 2,000 tribal students across the state.
Officials say the programme will reduce dropout rates and encourage higher education among tribal communities, while also stimulating local construction and related employment.
