IAS Neha Marwya’s earlier probe by the Enforcement Directorate and subsequent transfers have sparked debate over the cost of integrity in the state bureaucracy.

IAS Neha Marwya, a senior civil servant in Madhya Pradesh, was previously the subject of an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (EOW) over alleged irregularities. The probe, which concluded without a formal charge, was followed by a series of administrative transfers that moved her across different departments within the state machinery.

The most recent transfer, announced by the state government, placed Marwya in a new posting, marking at least the third such move since the EOW action. Officials have described the reshuffles as routine personnel decisions, emphasizing that no punitive intent has been expressed.

State legislator Baria raised the issue in the assembly, questioning whether an officer who upholds transparency is being penalised through constant relocations. He suggested that the pattern of transfers could deter other officials from pursuing anti‑corruption measures.

The state administration declined to comment on the specifics of Marwya’s postings, stating that personnel matters are handled in accordance with established procedures. The episode highlights the delicate balance between anti‑corruption enforcement and the stability of the bureaucratic cadre in Madhya Pradesh.
