The Madhya Pradesh High Court has ordered the issuance of an MBBS degree to a graduate whose certificate was withheld for 13 years due to a domicile controversy.
The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Friday delivered a verdict ending a 13-year stalemate for an MBBS graduate whose degree had been withheld over a domicile dispute. The court directed the state medical university to issue the degree without further delay, stating that the applicant had fulfilled all academic requirements.
The graduate had completed the medical course years ago, but the university suspended the award of the certificate pending verification of his residential status. After multiple petitions, the High Court found no legal basis to continue the hold and ordered immediate compliance.
Legal experts noted that the judgment underscores the judiciary's role in preventing administrative inertia that can derail professional careers. The decision is expected to allow the doctor to register with the Medical Council of India and pursue practice or further studies.
