The Madhya Pradesh High Court has reprimanded authorities over an illegal pandal that obstructed a road in Gandhi Nagar, Indore, directing the state government to submit a detailed report within two weeks.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court took a firm stance after a pandal was erected illegally in the Gandhi Nagar area of Indore, blocking a public thoroughfare. The court noted that the structure had obstructed a 10‑foot wide stretch of road, prompting complaints from local residents.
Police Deputy Commissioner Narendra Ravat informed the bench that the obstruction had been cleared, restoring the 10‑foot passage, and that an FIR had been registered against the organizer of the pandal.
The bench directed the state government to furnish a comprehensive response within two weeks, outlining the steps taken to prevent similar violations and to enforce existing regulations on temporary structures.
The incident underscores the judiciary’s willingness to intervene in civic infractions that disrupt public movement and safety.
Authorities are expected to submit the detailed report by the stipulated deadline.
