Madhya Pradesh recorded 90.3% of its allotted seasonal monsoon quota for the year, according to the latest figures released by the state’s meteorological department. While the percentage indicates a substantial share of the expected rainfall, the total volume remains below the long‑term normal for the region.
The shortfall has been unevenly distributed, with more than fifty percent of the state's districts reporting rainfall deficits that could affect sowing schedules and water availability for crops. Farmers in these areas are likely to face challenges in meeting irrigation needs, especially for water‑intensive crops such as soybean and wheat.
State officials have warned that the below‑normal monsoon could pressure agricultural output and have urged the implementation of water‑conservation measures.
