Madhya Pradesh electricity rates rise by 4 paise per unit from Sept 24

From September 24, consumers in Madhya Pradesh will pay roughly four paise more per unit as the fuel and purchase‑adjustment surcharge on electricity bills is increased for one month.
The Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board announced a revision of the fuel and purchase‑adjustment surcharge effective from September 24. The change adds about four paise to the cost of each kilowatt‑hour consumed by residential and commercial users.
The surcharge increase is temporary, applying for a single billing cycle before a review is scheduled. Officials said the adjustment reflects higher fuel procurement costs and aligns the tariff with current market rates.
Consumers will see the additional charge reflected in their next electricity bill, which will be issued for the month of September. The board urged customers to conserve electricity to mitigate the impact of the short‑term price rise.
No other components of the tariff structure have been altered, and the board confirmed that the increase does not affect subsidies or arrears settlements.
