Despite active monsoon conditions in Madhya Pradesh, major reservoirs are yet to reach optimal levels, with water storage significantly below last year's figures.
Although the monsoon has intensified in Madhya Pradesh, the state's major dams are still not filled to their capacity. As of June 30, the average water storage across 54 key reservoirs stands at 33.61 percent.
This current water level represents a marginal increase of only 1.59 percent compared to the same period last year. The situation highlights a continued deficit in water accumulation, even with the arrival of the rainy season.
Notably, the Indira Sagar dam, one of the state's largest, is reported to be significantly empty, contributing to the overall low water levels across 27 major reservoirs which hold less water than they did in the previous year.
