Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan toured flood‑hit districts of Bihar alongside the state’s chief minister and assured that the Union government will provide complete financial and logistical support.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan arrived in Bihar on Saturday to inspect the damage caused by recent floods that have inundated several districts. Accompanying him was Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who briefed the visiting leader on the scale of displacement, loss of crops and damage to infrastructure.
During the site visit, Chouhan emphasized the central government's commitment to mobilise funds, relief materials and rescue teams to the affected areas. He assured that the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and the National Disaster Management Authority would coordinate closely with state officials to expedite assistance.
The joint tour concluded with a pledge to set up temporary shelters, restore power and water supply, and fast‑track the reconstruction of damaged roads and bridges. Both leaders urged residents to cooperate with relief agencies and stay alert for further weather warnings.
State officials reported that over 1.2 million people have been impacted, with many still awaiting food packets and medical aid. The central aid promised by Chouhan is expected to be released in the upcoming budgetary allocations for disaster relief.
