Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has directed a tough stance on carbide guns and illegal fireworks ahead of Diwali, holding district officials accountable for any mishap.
The Madhya Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, issued stringent directives to tighten security during the upcoming Diwali celebrations and other festivals. The orders specifically target the use of carbide guns and the sale or deployment of illegal firecrackers, which have been linked to past injuries and property damage.
Under the new guidelines, district collectors and superintendents of police will be held personally responsible if any accident occurs as a result of non‑compliance. This measure aims to ensure that local authorities enforce existing laws more rigorously and act proactively to prevent hazardous incidents.
State officials have been instructed to increase patrols, conduct surprise inspections of firecracker vendors, and coordinate with law‑enforcement agencies to seize prohibited items. The CM emphasized that public safety is paramount and that any lapse will attract administrative action against the officials in charge.
The directive comes ahead of a period traditionally marked by extensive firecracker usage across the state, prompting concerns over safety and health impacts. By imposing accountability on senior officers, the government hopes to deter illegal activities and safeguard citizens during the festive season.
The enforcement strategy will be monitored closely, with periodic reports expected from district administrations to the state headquarters, ensuring that the policy translates into tangible on‑ground action.
