Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav, has ordered a judicial inquiry into the recent illegal liquor incident that surfaced in the city of Sagar. The decision follows growing public concern over the alleged distribution of spurious alcohol that resulted in several arrests.
The state government announced that a judicial commission will be constituted to examine the facts, identify lapses in enforcement, and recommend corrective measures. The probe will operate independently of the regular police machinery to ensure impartiality.
In conjunction with the inquiry, the administration has been restructured. Dilip Kumar has been appointed as the new Divisional Commissioner for Sagar division, while Irshad Wali has been named the Inspector General of Police for the region. These changes aim to strengthen oversight and restore confidence in law‑enforcement agencies.
Officials indicated that the inquiry will be completed within a stipulated timeframe, and any findings of negligence or collusion will be acted upon swiftly, underscoring the government's commitment to curbing illicit liquor trade.
