Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will hand out a ₹36.17 crore bonus to tendu leaf collectors in Mandla today, alongside a ₹26.56 crore timber dividend for forest committees.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is set to distribute a bonus of ₹36.17 crore to tendu leaf collectors in the district of Mandla. The payment, scheduled for today, aims to reward the 904,000 collectors who supply the leaves used in the tobacco industry.
In addition to the collector bonus, the state will allocate a timber dividend of ₹26.56 crore to 84 forest committees operating in the region. The dividend is part of the state's ongoing effort to share revenue generated from forest resources with local stakeholders.
The distribution ceremony will be held in Mandla, where the CM will personally hand over the funds to representatives of the collectors and committees. Officials said the bonus reflects the government's commitment to supporting livelihoods dependent on forest produce.
The scheme, announced earlier this year, is expected to boost the income of tendu leaf gatherers and reinforce community participation in forest management.
State authorities will monitor the disbursement to ensure transparency and timely delivery of the allocated amounts.
