The Madhya Pradesh cabinet cleared a budget of ₹345 crore for the Economic Offences Wing to strengthen anti‑corruption investigations, officials said.

Bhopal, Oct 27 — In a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Madhya Pradesh government approved a fund of ₹345 crore for the Economic Offences Wing (EOW). The allocation is intended to boost the wing's capacity to investigate financial crimes and recover misappropriated public money.

The cabinet also disclosed that action has been taken against 392 individuals linked to irregularities in municipal procurement, underscoring the state's focus on curbing corruption at the local level.

State officials said the new resources will be used for advanced forensic tools, staff augmentation, and training programmes, aiming to expedite pending cases and improve the overall efficiency of the EOW.

The decision reflects the government's broader strategy to strengthen financial oversight mechanisms across Madhya Pradesh, following several high‑profile graft scandals in recent years.

Further details on the disbursement schedule and specific projects will be released by the Finance Department in the coming weeks.
