The Madhya Pradesh cabinet has sanctioned a ₹13,790 crore proposal to construct sports complexes, each featuring a helipad, across 140 assembly constituencies.
Bhopal, Sept 22 (ANI) – In a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Madhya Pradesh government approved a massive sports infrastructure programme worth about ₹13,790 crore. The scheme calls for the construction of modern sports complexes in all 140 assembly constituencies, with each facility designed to include a helipad at its centre for quick emergency access and dignitary movement.
The proposal, presented by the state’s Sports and Youth Welfare Department, aims to boost grassroots sports participation, provide world‑class training venues, and attract national and international events to the state. Funding will be drawn from the state’s development budget and central government grants, with implementation to be overseen by the Madhya Pradesh Sports Authority.
Officials said the complexes will feature multi‑purpose fields, indoor arenas, swimming pools, and state‑of‑the‑art fitness centres, alongside the helipad. The cabinet expects the first phase to commence construction by early next year, with completion targeted within five years.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to position Madhya Pradesh as a sports hub in central India and to create employment opportunities in construction and ancillary services.
