The Madhya Pradesh cabinet approved development schemes worth Rs 24,500 crore across road, health, irrigation and education sectors, and announced a 20% reservation for firefighters in five uniformed services.
In a cabinet meeting convened in Bhopal, the Madhya Pradesh government cleared a slate of development proposals totaling Rs 24,500 crore. The approved schemes span critical sectors such as road construction, health infrastructure, irrigation networks and education facilities.
Among the road initiatives, the cabinet sanctioned a Rs 4,470 crore allocation for the Damoh‑Katni corridor, a project aimed at improving connectivity in the central region of the state. The health and irrigation components are expected to bolster rural services, while the education plan focuses on upgrading schools and colleges.
A notable policy decision announced alongside the projects is a 20% reservation for firefighters in recruitment for five uniformed departments. This move seeks to enhance representation of fire‑service personnel within the broader uniformed cadre.
