The Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly will shift to a fully digital system for questions, motions and petitions starting October 28, with legislators undergoing NeVA training and Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar presiding over the launch.
The Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly is set to become paperless, moving all procedural activities such as raising questions, drawing attention, and filing petitions to a digital platform. The transition will be effective from October 28, when the new electronic system goes live.
To prepare legislators for the change, a three‑day training programme on the NeVA (New Electronic Voting and Assembly) system will be conducted from October 28 to 30. Members of the assembly will receive hands‑on instruction on using the software, submitting documents electronically and accessing real‑time data.
Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar will officially inaugurate the digital rollout, signalling the state's push towards modernisation and greater efficiency in legislative work. The move is expected to reduce paperwork, speed up decision‑making and improve transparency for both lawmakers and the public.
State officials have indicated that the paperless system will be integrated with existing IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity across the assembly complex. Once fully operational, the digital framework will also enable remote access to records and live streaming of proceedings for citizens.
The initiative aligns with broader e‑governance efforts across India, aiming to streamline administrative processes and cut down on resource consumption in public institutions.
