The Madhya Pradesh government has approved a ₹600 crore budget to deploy advanced security measures for the upcoming Simhastha fair in Ujjain.
The state cabinet of Madhya Pradesh has sanctioned a fund of ₹600 crore to ensure high‑technology based security for the Simhastha religious fair scheduled in Ujjain. The allocation is aimed at strengthening surveillance, crowd‑control and rapid response capabilities during the massive gathering of pilgrims.
According to officials, the budget will support the installation of modern CCTV networks, aerial drones, biometric entry points and command‑and‑control centres to monitor the event in real time. Additional resources will be directed towards training security personnel and coordinating with local law‑enforcement agencies.
Simhastha, held once every twelve years, attracts millions of devotees to the banks of the Shipra River. The substantial investment reflects the government's commitment to safeguarding public safety while facilitating the smooth conduct of the religious festivities.
The funding decision was taken in a meeting chaired by the chief minister, who emphasized that technology‑driven security is essential for managing large‑scale events in the state.
