MLA Karemmma Appeals for Cancellation of Order to Shift Chikkahonnakuni KBJNL Office

Bengaluru: Devadurga Assembly Constituency MLA Karemmma G. Nayak met Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and Water Resources Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy at Vidhana Soudha and submitted a request to cancel the order to shift the Executive Engineer’s office of Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Limited (KBJNL), Narayanapura Right Bank Canal Division No. 6, currently located at Chikkahonnakuni in Devadurga taluk.
The MLA explained that if the office currently functioning at Chikkahonnakuni is shifted to another location, farmers and members of the public from Devadurga taluk may have to travel long distances for administrative work. This could also cause inconvenience in addressing various issues related to canals, irrigation and departmental matters.
Keeping in view the interests of farmers and the public in the Narayanapura Right Bank Canal area, the Executive Engineer’s office should continue to function at Chikkahonnakuni. She urged the government to reconsider and cancel the order regarding the shifting of the office.
The office is convenient for local farmers and the public and helps them bring irrigation-related issues to the attention of officials. Therefore, the government should take appropriate steps to ensure that the office is not shifted, the MLA requested in her representation.
The Chief Minister and the Water Resources Minister received the representation and assured that the matter would be examined and appropriate action would be considered, the MLA said.
