Ludhiana's commissionerate police, together with the counter‑intelligence unit, arrested a man accused of spying for Pakistan by installing CCTV cameras outside a shop and transmitting live footage.
Ludhiana commissionerate police, in coordination with the city's counter‑intelligence wing, have taken into custody a suspect alleged to be working for Pakistan's intelligence services. The arrest followed a joint operation that targeted the individual for installing surveillance equipment outside a local shop.
The suspect is accused of setting up a closed‑circuit television (CCTV) system and relaying the live video feed to operatives in Pakistan, thereby creating a covert channel for intelligence gathering.
Police officials confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that the accused will face charges under India's espionage and national security laws. No further details about the suspect's identity or the extent of the network have been disclosed pending formal statements from the authorities.
The case underscores heightened vigilance by Indian law‑enforcement agencies against cross‑border espionage activities, especially in border states such as Punjab.
