Punjab police in Ludhiana seized a heroin trafficking network, detaining eight suspects, among them a woman.
Ludhiana police announced a successful operation against a heroin trafficking network on Monday, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals. The raid, conducted in a residential area of the city, led to the seizure of a substantial quantity of heroin and related paraphernalia.
Among those taken into custody is a female suspect, marking a rare involvement of women in such drug‑smuggling rings in the region. Authorities have not disclosed the exact weight of the narcotics recovered, but described the haul as significant enough to warrant a thorough investigation.
The police spokesperson said the operation was the outcome of weeks of intelligence gathering and coordinated efforts between local law‑enforcement units. Further inquiries will focus on uncovering the broader supply chain and any links to interstate or international drug networks.
Investigators have also warned that the crackdown is part of a larger initiative to curb narcotics trafficking in Punjab, urging the public to report suspicious activities.
