Ludhiana's commissionerate police, together with counter‑intelligence, detained a suspect accused of installing CCTV outside a shop and transmitting live video to Pakistan's intelligence agency.

Ludhiana commissionerate police, in coordination with the state's counter‑intelligence unit, carried out a joint operation on a recent date that led to the arrest of a man suspected of espionage for Pakistan. The suspect is alleged to have installed a closed‑circuit television camera outside a local shop and streamed the footage in real time to operatives linked to Pakistan's intelligence services.

Authorities said the surveillance setup was intended to gather visual intelligence on commercial activities and movement in the area, which could be exploited for hostile purposes. The arrested individual was taken into custody for further interrogation, and forensic analysis of the CCTV equipment is underway.

The police have not disclosed the suspect's identity or the exact location of the shop, citing security concerns. The case underscores heightened vigilance by Indian law‑enforcement agencies against cross‑border espionage activities in Punjab.

The investigation remains ongoing, and officials have warned that any further attempts to transmit unauthorized data to foreign intelligence agencies will be met with strict legal action.
