A driver in Ludhiana was forced to jump from his Hyundai Swift after the vehicle caught fire, escaping with no injuries. Firefighters arrived quickly and contained the blaze.

At around 3 pm on a weekday, a Hyundai Swift caught fire on the main road in Ludhiana, Punjab. The vehicle’s driver, who was seated in the front seat, was forced to leap from the car as flames engulfed the interior. He emerged from the scene unharmed, though the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Firefighters and police arrived within minutes, extinguishing the blaze and securing the area. The incident caused a brief traffic jam, but traffic was soon restored. Authorities have requested witnesses to come forward, and a preliminary inquiry is underway to determine whether a mechanical fault or electrical short was responsible.

The accident has drawn attention to the safety record of compact cars in India, with experts urging drivers to keep a close eye on engine temperatures and to perform regular maintenance checks. While no injuries were reported, the swift response of emergency services was praised by local residents.

The Ludhiana police have issued a statement confirming that the driver was unharmed and that the vehicle was severely damaged. They are continuing to investigate the incident and will release further details once the inquiry is complete.
