The Indian Meteorological Department has indicated that a low-pressure area is likely to develop over the Bay of Bengal around October 23, potentially bringing moderate to heavy rainfall to coastal regions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an advisory on Monday noting that atmospheric conditions are favorable for the formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal around October 23. Meteorologists said the system could intensify as it moves westward, bringing increased cloud cover and precipitation to the eastern coastal states.
IMD officials are closely monitoring sea surface temperatures and wind patterns, which are conducive to cyclonic development in the post-monsoon season. While the system is not yet classified as a cyclonic storm, authorities have urged coastal districts to stay prepared for possible heavy showers and localized flooding.
Residents of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are advised to keep abreast of updates from local weather offices and to follow any precautionary measures issued by disaster management agencies.
