The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) announced the rollout of a low‑cost e‑bike sharing facility at several of its busiest stations, aiming to provide an environmentally friendly option for commuters completing the last mile of their journeys.
The e‑bikes, marketed as green vehicles, will be available for rent at minimal rates, encouraging riders to choose a zero‑emission mode over conventional auto‑rickshaws or private vehicles, thereby helping to curb air pollution in the city.
The pilot will initially cover major interchange stations such as Kempegowda, Majestic and Yeshwanthpur, with plans to extend the service to additional hubs based on usage patterns and demand.
Officials said the initiative aligns with Bangalore’s broader sustainable mobility strategy, which seeks to integrate public transport, non‑motorised options and shared electric vehicles to create a seamless, low‑carbon urban transport network.
