The theatrical rights of the Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal starrer 'Love & War' were sold for a staggering Rs. 300 crore, setting a new benchmark in Bollywood distribution deals.
The theatrical rights of the Hindi film "Love & War" have been sold for an unprecedented Rs. 300 crore, according to a statement released by the film’s production house. The deal, which involves the distribution of the movie across multiplexes and single screens, marks the highest amount ever paid for a Bollywood film’s theatrical rights.
"Love & War" stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal and is directed by Anurag Kashyap. The film was produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions in collaboration with Yash Raj Films, and it is slated for a theatrical release in late 2024.
Industry analysts note that the Rs. 300 crore figure eclipses the previous record held by the 2023 film "Pathaan", whose rights were sold for Rs. 200 crore. The new benchmark reflects growing confidence in the domestic market and the star power of the film’s lead actors.
The producers confirmed that the rights were acquired by a consortium of major distributors, who are optimistic about the film’s box‑office potential. They also highlighted that the high price tag will allow for a wide release strategy, including premium screens and extended theatrical runs.
