A daily‑wage warehousing employee was caught taking a Rs 90,000 bribe in exchange for facilitating a No‑Objection Certificate and payment for moong procurement in Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh.
The Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta’s anti‑corruption wing intercepted a daily‑wage staff member of a local warehousing unit in Narmadapuram. The employee was found accepting a cash payment of Rs 90,000 in return for expediting the issuance of a No‑Objection Certificate (NOC) and related disbursements linked to the procurement of moong beans.
According to the Lokayukta’s statement, the bribe was intended to smooth the procedural formalities that farmers and traders must clear before receiving government‑sanctioned procurement benefits. The official said the employee had approached the authorities with the cash, expecting the NOC to be issued without the usual verification steps.
The case underscores ongoing concerns about corruption in agricultural supply chains, especially in the procurement of pulses that are vital to the state’s agrarian economy. The Lokayukta has opened an investigation to determine whether other officials or intermediaries were involved and to recover the illicit amount.
