A shooting incident occurred in the town of Sanchore, Jalore district, when a liquor trader’s Scorpio was fired upon. The victim, identified as Ganpatlal Vishnoi, sustained injuries but survived the attack.
Vishnoi alleges that the assailants demanded a bribe of Rs 5 million and threatened to kill him if the amount was not paid. He reported that the demand was made shortly before the gunfire, linking the extortion attempt to the violent act.
Local police have registered a criminal case and are investigating the incident as an extortion‑related homicide attempt. Officials said they are tracing the weapon used and questioning witnesses to identify the perpetrators, while urging the public to report any related information.
