A sudden lightning strike hit three women who were walking back from a paddy‑sowing operation in the Madhura Bihyar area of Tarapur, located in Munger district, Bihar. The bolt struck the group as they were on a rural road, causing immediate fatalities and injuries.
One of the women succumbed to the impact on the spot, while the other two sustained injuries of varying severity. Emergency responders arrived quickly and provided first aid at the scene.
The more seriously injured woman was transferred to a hospital in Bhagalpur for specialized treatment, as local facilities were deemed insufficient for her condition. The second injured woman received basic medical care locally and is under observation.
