A Madhya Pradesh court sentenced 13 people, including the victim’s relatives, to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 52,000 each, after the son and daughter‑in‑law’s testimony in a deadly land‑dispute clash in Dhar.

The Fourth Additional Sessions Judge in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, delivered a landmark verdict in a long‑standing land‑dispute case that turned violent. The court found 13 accused, among them the deceased’s brother and other close relatives, guilty of murder and related offences.

The incident, described in the charge sheet as a "khuni sangharsh," resulted in the death of the landowner involved in the dispute. The prosecution’s case hinged on the testimony of the victim’s son and daughter‑in‑law, whose statements convinced the bench of the accused’s culpability.

Each of the 13 convicts was sentenced to life imprisonment and ordered to pay a monetary penalty of Rs 52,000. The fine, imposed per accused, underscores the court’s intent to impose both punitive and deterrent measures.

Legal observers noted that the ruling is historic for the district, signalling a tougher stance against violent land‑related confrontations that have plagued parts of central India.

The judgment is expected to set a precedent for swift and severe action in similar property‑conflict cases across the state.
