LG Manoj Sinha conducted a comprehensive review of prison security and management protocols across Jammu & Kashmir, emphasizing the need for enhanced safety measures and staff training.
LG Manoj Sinha, the state's law and order secretary, visited several correctional facilities in Jammu & Kashmir on Thursday to assess the current state of prison security and management.
During the tour, the official examined security infrastructure, surveillance systems, and staff training programmes, noting that while many prisons have basic measures in place, there are gaps in technology and personnel readiness.
Sinha highlighted the need for upgraded CCTV coverage, improved emergency response protocols, and regular drills for inmates and staff. He also urged the prison administration to conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with national standards.
The review will lead to a set of recommendations that will be forwarded to the Ministry of Home Affairs, with a follow‑up visit scheduled for the end of the month to monitor implementation.
