The Madhya Pradesh Food Safety Department has halted sales of Anik Ghee in Tikamgarh after tests revealed lead levels exceeding permissible limits.

A recent inspection by the Madhya Pradesh Food Safety Department in Tikamgarh detected lead concentrations in Anik Ghee that surpass the safety threshold set by national regulations. The laboratory analysis showed that the metal content was well above the permissible limit for edible fats.

Based on these findings, the department issued an immediate order prohibiting the sale and distribution of the product within the district. Retailers and wholesalers have been instructed to remove all stock of Anik Ghee from shelves and to cease any further supply.

Authorities have also launched a recall of existing batches and are urging consumers who may have purchased the ghee to discontinue its use and return it to the point of sale for a full refund. The Food Safety Department said it will continue monitoring the market and will take further action if additional violations are discovered.

The move underscores the department’s commitment to safeguarding public health and reinforces the strict enforcement of food safety standards across Madhya Pradesh.
