A landslide at the Teesta‑Chyakong river confluence in Sikkim has led state officials to issue a safety alert for nearby areas.

Sikkim's disaster management team has issued an official alert after a landslide struck the area where the Teesta and Chyakong rivers meet. The slide, reported early on Wednesday, has blocked a stretch of the local road that connects several villages along the riverbank.

Authorities have warned residents and commuters to avoid the affected zone until the debris is cleared and the route is deemed safe. Rescue and engineering squads have been dispatched to assess the damage and to begin removal of the displaced earth.

Preliminary reports indicate no casualties, but officials are monitoring the situation closely as heavy monsoon rains continue to raise the risk of further landslides in the region. The alert remains in force, and updates will be provided as the situation evolves.
