Senior Ladakh leaders, including Sonam Wangchuk, met officials of the Home Ministry to hand over a list of demands they consider non‑negotiable.

Earlier this week, a delegation of Ladakh groups attended a meeting at the Home Ministry in New Delhi, with former engineer‑politician Sonam Wangchuk among the participants. The gathering was convened to convey a set of demands that the representatives described as non‑negotiable.

The list, which was formally handed over to senior ministry officials, covers issues ranging from administrative autonomy and infrastructure development to the preservation of Ladakh’s cultural heritage. Delegates emphasized that these points are essential for the region’s long‑term stability and growth.

Home Ministry officials acknowledged receipt of the document and indicated that the concerns would be examined in consultation with relevant agencies. No immediate policy changes were announced, but the ministry signalled its intent to engage further with Ladakh stakeholders.

The meeting underscores the continuing dialogue between the Union Territory and the central government, reflecting Ladakh’s evolving political aspirations following its reorganisation in 2019.
