India's labour welfare boards are transitioning to digital operations by implementing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, aiming to streamline benefits administration.
The Ministry of Labour has announced that all state‑level labour welfare boards will roll out enterprise resource planning (ERP) software to manage their functions electronically. The move is intended to replace manual, paper‑based processes with a unified digital platform that can handle registration, contribution collection, and benefit disbursement more efficiently.
The selected ERP solutions will be hosted on secure cloud servers, allowing real‑time data access for board officials and beneficiaries alike. Implementation is slated to begin in the next quarter, with a phased rollout covering major boards first, followed by smaller regional bodies. Training programmes are being organised for staff to ensure smooth migration.
Officials highlighted that the digital shift aligns with the government's broader e‑governance agenda, promising greater transparency, reduced processing times, and better audit trails for welfare funds. The initiative is expected to improve service delivery for millions of workers who rely on these boards for social security benefits.
