The Ministry of Labour has drafted a proposal to lift the EPF mandatory salary ceiling from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000, aiming to extend benefits to private sector workers.

The Ministry of Labour has finalized a draft proposal to raise the EPF mandatory salary ceiling from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000, aiming to extend benefits to private sector employees.

Under the current scheme, employees earning up to ₹15,000 per month are eligible for EPF contributions. The proposed increase would allow workers earning up to ₹25,000 to contribute and receive the associated benefits.

The draft, prepared by the Ministry, is expected to be forwarded to the cabinet for approval. Once approved, the change would apply to all private sector employees across the country.

The move is part of the government's effort to improve social security for private sector workers, who have historically had limited coverage under the EPF scheme.
