The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) inaugurated the Khadi Mahotsav in New Delhi today, marking the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary.
The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) opened the Khadi Mahotsav in New Delhi on the 2nd of October, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The event aimed to promote khadi as a symbol of self-reliance and sustainable fashion, showcasing a range of hand‑spun fabrics, accessories and traditional garments.
Attendees were treated to live demonstrations of spinning and weaving, as well as stalls selling khadi products from across India. The Mahotsav also featured talks on the economic impact of khadi and its role in rural development.
KVIC officials highlighted the importance of khadi in preserving heritage while supporting local artisans, and urged visitors to incorporate khadi into their daily attire as a tribute to Gandhi’s vision.
