Kuwait’s criminal court sentenced two Lebanese citizens and an Indian national to death after convicting them in separate drug trafficking and smuggling cases, officials said.

Kuwait’s criminal court handed down death sentences to two Lebanese nationals and an Indian citizen after finding them guilty of drug trafficking and related smuggling offences. The verdicts were issued in separate cases that were tried concurrently, according to statements from the Ministry of Justice.

Under Kuwaiti law, the death penalty is mandatory for individuals convicted of trafficking large quantities of controlled substances. Prosecutors presented evidence that the three defendants were involved in the import and distribution of narcotics that threatened public safety and security.

Authorities said the sentences reflect Kuwait’s strict stance against drug crimes and serve as a deterrent to others. No official comment was received from the embassies of Lebanon or India regarding the rulings.

Legal experts noted that while the death penalty remains controversial internationally, it continues to be applied in Gulf states for serious drug offences, and appeals may be filed in accordance with Kuwaiti judicial procedures.
