A group of Kuki‑Zo women in Manipur assembled to pay their respects to a Gorkha farmer who was recently killed. The gathering was marked by a solemn call for legal accountability, with the participants emphasizing that they seek justice rather than any form of revenge.
The women, representing the Kuki‑Zo community, voiced their grief over the loss of the farmer, who had been a resident of the region. While details of the incident remain under investigation, the community’s response underscores a demand for a transparent inquiry and fair trial.
Local leaders and civil‑society members were present, reinforcing the sentiment that the rule of law must prevail. The tribute highlighted the broader concern of maintaining communal harmony in the state, as the families of the victim and the Kuki‑Zo community look for closure through judicial means.
Authorities have been urged to expedite the investigation and ensure that those responsible are brought to book, in line with the community’s appeal for justice over retaliation.
