Telangana’s deputy chief minister K. T. Rama Rao criticised Rahul Gandhi for failing to address student grievances and for not fulfilling election promises, during a press briefing.

Telangana’s deputy chief minister K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) publicly rebuked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that the opposition has ignored the mounting concerns of students in the state. Speaking at a press conference in Hyderabad, KTR highlighted issues such as inadequate infrastructure, rising tuition fees and lack of job opportunities for graduates, and said the Congress has done nothing to alleviate them.

KTR further pointed out that during the last state elections the Congress pledged specific measures to improve higher‑education facilities and to create more employment avenues for youth, promises that remain unfulfilled. He urged the central leadership to take concrete steps rather than offering rhetoric.

The remarks come amid growing student protests across Telangana campuses, where demonstrations have been organized over fee hikes and demands for better placement support. While Rahul Gandhi has not yet responded, political analysts note that the exchange underscores the heightened competition between the ruling BRS and the opposition ahead of upcoming local elections.

KTR concluded by urging the state government to continue its own initiatives, including scholarships and skill‑development programmes, to ensure that students receive the support they need.
