Three leaders of the Khasi Students Union (KSU) have been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days following violent clashes during a rally in Shillong, Meghalaya.
Earlier this week a rally organised by the Khasi Students Union (KSU) in Shillong descended into violence, prompting police intervention. The disturbance led to clashes between demonstrators and law‑enforcement officials, causing public order concerns. Police subsequently detained three senior KSU leaders and presented them before the district court. The court ordered their remand to 14‑day judicial custody pending further investigation. Authorities indicated that the custody measure is intended to facilitate a thorough inquiry into the causes of the unrest.
