Kolkata Faces Waterlogging as South Bengal Receives Extremely Heavy Rain Alert

Heavy rainfall has caused waterlogging in parts of Kolkata, while the Indian Meteorological Department has issued an extremely heavy rain alert for South Bengal.
Today, several neighbourhoods in Kolkata were hit by severe waterlogging after hours of continuous rain.
Roads in the central and eastern districts were closed as water levels rose, disrupting traffic and forcing commuters to seek alternative routes.
In response, the Indian Meteorological Department issued an Extremely Heavy Rain Alert for South Bengal, covering the entire state of West Bengal.
Kolkata Municipal Corporation and police are working to clear blocked drains and advise residents to stay indoors until the situation improves.
